Barclays Life Skills
Barclays Life Skills is an initiative by leading UK bank Barclays to improve the skills of young people through a special apprentice programme. Designed for people who otherwise would fall outside of the academic system of A-levels and University, Barclays have successfully hired 2000 apprentices across England and are expanding the programme.
We filmed the National Careers Council on the day that GCSE results came out in August 2014. These are the high school results for hundreds of thousands of 16 year olds, which determine whether they will go on to sixth form. We asked people how they felt about the word “career” and what advice they would give to a young person today. This was used by Barclays to show to a special governmental conference in Westminster, London in September 2014.
